Mandatory PAN

The following persons are required to apply for PAN on mandatory basis:

  • Every person if his total income or the total income of any other person in respect of which he is assessable during the year exceeds the maximum amount which is not chargeable to tax (basic exemption limit).
  • A charitable trust who is required to furnish return under Section 139(4A).
  • Every person who is carrying on any business or profession whose total sale, turnover, or gross receipts are or is likely to exceed five lakh rupees in any year
  • Every person who intends to enter into specified financial transactions in which quoting of PAN is mandatory. Every non-individual resident person and persons associated with them shall apply for PAN if the financial transaction entered into by them during the financial year exceeds Rs. 2,50,000.

Procedure for PAN Application

Online application

  • Visiting the official PAN – NSDL/UTIITSL website
  • Fill the form with your details.
  • Submit the required documents.
  • Pay the processing fee.
  • PAN will be dispatched within 15 days.

Offline application

  • Get application from authorised PAN centre
  • Fill form, attach documents and submit along with prescribed processing fees
  • PAN will be sent to the given address

Obtaining instant e-PAN through Aadhaar

  1. In Aadhaar based e-KYC option, Aadhaar details would be considered as PAN application details.
  2. Aadhaar will be forwarded as supporting document
  3. The photograph used in Aadhaar card would be used in PAN card
  4. PAN card will be dispatched at address mentioned in Aadhaar.
